Flotilla 08-05 – Altavista and Lynchburg proudly serving
Smith Mountain Lake and Central Virginia

Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 08-05 is an active, all volunteer organization that
assists the U.S. Coast Guard with civil responsibilities:

  • Patrolling Federal and State waterways
  • Conducting search and rescues
  • Encouraging safe water practices
  • Teaching free boating safety courses
  • Providing boating safety information to marine dealers
  • Performing free Vessel Safety Checks
  • Verifying aids to navigation chart updating
